Our Initiatives
QMOSQUE
On the first Friday evening of each month, QMOB hosts an evening Jummah service at Union Church in Boston's South End neighborhood. QMOSQUE is a monthly gathering where our community comes together to pray, share food, and create queer Muslim life in real time. A khutbah and non-segregated Jummah namaz are delivered by community members each month. We have also hosted community trainings such as Stop the Bleed, and created space for specific Islamic traditions such as dhikr-heavy services. Sign up for our mailing list and follow us on Instagram to stay informed about upcoming QMOSQUE gatherings — we'd love to see you there.
Holidays
QMOB organizes events for Eid al-Adha, Eid al-Fitr, and Ramadan, as well as initiatives around Pride and Black History Month. We are committed to providing a space for our siblings to convene and connect around these moments. Sign up for our mailing list and follow us on Instagram for updates on upcoming events.
Quran Circle
Quran Circle is a digital gathering that takes place on the last Saturday of every month. Attendees discuss translations of specified surahs, including the historical context of their revelation and reflections on what was confusing or meaningful about the ayats. Sign up for our mailing list to learn more about our next Quran Circle.
Supporting Incarcerated Siblings
QMOB is committed to supporting our queer Muslim siblings experiencing incarceration. We work to integrate them into our events and programming through letter writing, digital participation, and pen pal connections. If you'd like to support this initiative, please reach out through our General Inquiries form.
Community Support
We recognize that the current social, political, and economic climate is affecting our community. Through our partnership with Union Church, QMOB members have access to Union Church's food assistance program. Please visit this resource if you are looking for food support in your area and reach out through our General Inquiries form if you would like to be connected to Union Church's food assistance program.
QMOB is a grassroots organization, not a nonprofit, and does not receive regular external funding. We are unable to provide casework, legal advice, or mental health services, but we are well connected to professional services across greater New England and will do our best to make referrals where we can. If you are in need of resources, please reach out through our General Inquiries form. We cannot guarantee connections or provision of services, but we will assist to the best of our capacity.
